Printing and Publishing
Virtually from its inception, KM&M has been general counsel to the Metropolitan Lithographers Association, Inc. ("MLA"), a multi-employer association comprising the most prominent lithographic printing companies in New York and New Jersey. The firm serves as spokesperson for the MLA in its collective bargaining negotiations with the Amalgamated Lithographers of America and, as such, negotiates an agreement which serves as the standard for the entire unionized printing industry in the New York area. KM&M is also frequently called upon to represent MLA member companies in arbitration proceedings under the agreement, and serves as co-counsel to the multi-employer health, pension, unemployment and training funds.
KM&M also represents some of the pre-eminent publishing-related entities in the country, including Simon & Schuster, Inc., Rodale, Inc. and The New York Times Company. We advise and represent companies in the printing and publishing businesses in a broad range of matters such as equal employment and affirmative action, the enforcement of restrictive covenants, and issues relating to use of alternative workforce arrangements, including use of independent contractors, contingent workers and consultants.
