Raymond McGuire joined KM&M in 1981 and assumed primary responsibility for its litigation practice in federal and state courts, as well as before the NLRB and other federal agencies.

Since 1981, he has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts in the New York Metropolitan Area involving employment contract, discrimination, and labor relations issues.

Ray also is responsible for KM&M's representation of its construction industry clients in all aspects of their labor relations, serving as Managing Director of the Contractors' Association of Greater New York, Inc. (CAGNY), a multi-employer association of “high-rise” construction managers, and general counsel to the Association of Contracting Plumbers of Greater New York.

Additionally, Ray serves as counsel to several construction industry benefit funds.

In the course of advising the firm’s construction industry clients, Ray has been at the forefront of negotiating project labor agreement and site-specific concessionary contracts with one or more of the fifteen plus unions and district councils which represent New York’s 100,000-plus construction workers. He has also counseled employers attempting the difficult transition necessary to remain competitive in an “open shop” environment.

Ray has particular expertise as well in the labor issues arising in the maritime industry in New York City-based tour vessels, ferries, and tug/barge operations. Ray has also represented deep-sea vessel owners in negotiations with the Masters, Mates & Pilots and the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association.

Ray received his law degree from Harvard Law School. Following practice with a labor law firm in New York, he served in the Peace Corps in Nigeria for two years and then obtained a master of laws degree from Columbia Law School. Ray served as professor of law at the University of Maine School of Law from 1973 to 1981, and also taught and lectured in labor and employment law at Florida State University and University College Dublin.  He has been a full-time practitioner for the past 35 years.
