Dennis Lalli Serves as Panelist at State Bar Presentation on Accommodation of Disabilities

September 12, 2003

On September 12, 2003, Dennis Lalli served as a panelist for a presentation entitled, "Can We Talk? Reasonable Accommodation and the Interactive Process." The program was presented in Ottawa, Canada at a plenary session of the Fall Meeting of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. The panel, using as examples three video vignettes which had been acted and filmed earlier, discussed whether the "interactive process" that is described in EEOC guidelines issued under the Americans with Disabilities Act is a mandatory legal obligation for employers in New York. The speakers also discussed when the duty to accommodate arises, how to meet that duty, and some of the pitfalls that employers may face during the accommodation process. A copy of the paper that Dennis presented at this meeting is attached.
