Dennis Lalli Chairs State Bar Panel on New Technologies and Employee Privacy March 28, 2006On March 20 and 21, 2006, Dennis Lalli chaired and was a speaker on a workshop entitled, "The Impact of New Technologies on Employee Privacy in the Workplace," presented at the 30th Anniversary Meeting of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, held at the Longboat Key Club in Longboat Key, Florida. The panel’s topics included the legal and practical issues that arise from the use of such technologies as e-mail, instant messaging, cell phones, cell phone cameras, global positioning systems, and biometrics in the workplace, as well as blogging by employees and former employees. In light of the significance, timeliness, and popularity of the panel’s topic, the program was presented twice in order to enable the maximum number of Section members to attend. The program addressed the labor law, as well as employment law, aspects of the technologies discussed, and as might be expected, there was lively audience participation.
