EEOC Revised Workplace Notice

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued a revised workplace notice, the “EEO Is The Law” poster, that employers covered by the federal anti-discrimination laws must post in the workplace.  The revised notice, which can be found on the EEOC website (http://www.eeoc.gov/posterform.html) includes information regarding the new Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GENA) and changes made by the amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Employers may either replace their existing posters with the revised November 2009 version of the “EEO Is The Law” poster, or post a supplement (which can be found on the EEOC website) next to the EEOC’s September 2002 version of the poster or next to the August 2008 version of the poster issued by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).

Further information on the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act can be found in our article President Signs Act Restricting Acquisition and Disclosure of Genetic Information by Employers (June 5, 2008). Further information on the Americans with Disabilities Act can be found in our article President Signs Into Law Significant Amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act (October 6, 2008).
