New York City Commission on Human Rights Publishes Required Anti-Sexual Harassment Poster and Information Sheet

Effective September 6, 2018, New York City employers must comply with the posting and notice requirements in the newly enacted Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act. (See New York State and New York City Both Expand Laws Prohibiting Workplace Sexual Harassment.) The New York City Commission on Human Rights (“NYCCHR”) recently published: (1) the poster that employers must conspicuously display in the workplace; and (2) the information sheet that employers may use to comply with the law’s notice requirement. These materials can be downloaded from the NYCCHR’s website, at: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/cchr/law/stop-sexual-harassment-act.page.

New York City employers must ensure that, on or before September 6, 2018, they:

  1. conspicuously display the required poster “in employee breakrooms or other common areas employees gather” in English and in Spanish;[1] and
  2. are providing a copy of the NYCCHR’s information sheet to all new hires (or have updated their employee handbooks to include the information sheet).

Please do not hesitate to contact any of our attorneys if you have any questions regarding this posting and notice requirement or the steps your company must take to comply with the Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act.

[1] Presently, the poster is only available on the NYCCHR’s website in English. The Spanish version of the poster will likely be released before September 6, 2018.
