USCIS Asks Sick Applicants to Reschedule Appointments During Coronavirus Outbreak, Closes Seattle Office

On February 25, 2020, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) issued an alert asking applicants experiencing flu-like symptoms to reschedule their appointments, whether or not they were exposed to coronavirus. USCIS will allow these applicants to reschedule their appointments without penalty. The agency reserves the right to cancel an appointment or interview with anyone who appears ill.

In addition, the agency has temporarily closed its Seattle office after an employee was exposed to coronavirus. USCIS will automatically reschedule all interviews that were set to take place during the closure. The agency has asked those with Infopass and biometrics appointments at the Seattle office to reschedule their own appointments. USCIS also urges anyone who visited the Seattle Field Office on or after February 24, 2020 and develops flu-like symptoms to immediately self-quarantine and seek medical guidance on coronavirus.
