President Trump Tweets Plan to Temporarily Suspend Immigration to the United States

On the evening of April 20, 2020, President Trump announced on Twitter that he plans to sign an executive order temporarily suspending immigration into the United States. He cited the COVID-19 outbreak and the need to protect American jobs as justification for the policy. Details of the order have not been released, leaving questions as to what the order will cover, when it will go into effect, possible exemptions, and how long the policy will last. We anticipate that any executive order will be subject to litigation.

We will provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
