Andrew R. Lerner

In Memoriam

With sadness we note the passing of our colleague and friend Andrew R. Lerner. Andrew was passionate about his clients and all those fortunate to be in his orbit. He will be deeply missed.

Andrew R. Lerner joined KM&M in November 2017 as Senior Counsel to the firm’s newly established Immigration Practice Group. Andrew practiced immigration law for over 25 years, focusing on immigration-related business, entertainment, and family-based legal matters.

A substantial amount of Andrew’s time was dedicated to analysis, strategic planning, and development of immigration-oriented solutions for corporate, entrepreneurial, and investor clients. Andrew was a featured seminar and conference speaker on a wide array of immigration issues, and was selected annually for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2003, The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers since 2010, and since 2007, was selected annually as a New York Super Lawyer.

He was a former Chair of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), in addition to having served as a member of AILA National’s USCIS Vermont Service Center Liaison Committee, Co-Chair of NY AILA’s District Director Liaison Committee, Chair of NY AILA’s Corporate Practice Committee, member of NY AILA’s USCIS Liaison Committee, Co-Chair of NY AILA’s 8th Annual Immigration Law Symposium, and Co-Chair of NY AILA’s Department of Labor Liaison Committee. Most recently, Andrew served on AILA National’s EB-5 Liaison Committee for (2012/2013) and 2013/2014.

Andrew attended Occidental College, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in English and Theater. He then went on to obtain his J.D. from Fordham Law School.

On a personal note, Andrew prided himself on being a "native New Yorker," having been brought up in Greenwich Village during the 1960s. A creative soul by nature, prior to practicing law he was employed as an assistant film editor, an actor, and a singer/songwriter. Andrew also was a tennis fanatic and avid runner, having run in five New York City marathons. He went on to apply his intellect, creative abilities, and boundless energy to analyzing the law and developing immigration-related solutions tailored to the specific needs and objectives of KM&M’s clientele.
