New York Minimum Wage to Increase
Effective January 1, 2006, the New York State minimum wage will increase from $6.00 per hour to $6.75 per hour. It will increase again to $7.15 per hour as of January 1, 2007. Any increase in the federal minimum wage above these rates will automatically result in an increase in the state's minimum wage.
Employers will need to update their required postings with a notice that reflects this increase. Copies of the notice can be downloaded from the New York State Department of Labor website at www.labor.state.ny.us/workerprotection/laborstandards/PDFs/LS207.pdf or by going to KMM.com and clicking on “Articles” and then “Web Resources,” which contains a link to the New York State Department of Labor website.
