Presidential Proclamation Extends Travel Restrictions to Include Visitors to Iran

New York, NY
March 5, 2020

President Trump has expanded the government’s coronavirus-related travel restrictions, which now apply to travelers who have recently visited Iran.

As of March 2, 2020, all immigrants or nonimmigrants who were physically present within Iran during the 14 days immediately preceding their attempted entry into the United States will not be admitted into the country. Certain travelers are exempt from the restriction, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, the spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, and members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses and children. These restrictions already apply to travelers who have been physically present in China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) within the 14 days immediately preceding their attempted entry into the United States.
