US Announces New Travel Restrictions for Brazil

On May 24, 2020, President Trump issued a new Presidential Proclamation curtailing travel to the US from Brazil. Beginning tomorrow, May 27, 2020, the United States will not admit foreign nationals who were physically present in Brazil within the 14 days prior to their travel to the US.

Like the other Presidential Proclamations aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, the travel restrictions do not apply to US citizens; legal permanent residents; spouses, children and other immediate family members of US citizens or permanent residents; travelers seeking entry into the United States at the invitation of the US Government for a purpose related to containment or mitigation of the virus; travelers whose admission to the United States would be in the national interest; and members of the US Armed Forces and their spouses and children, among other less common categories.
