Federal Court Halts USCIS Fee Increase Nationwide

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services’ (USCIS) proposed fee increase, which was scheduled to go into effect on Friday, October 2, 2020, has been temporarily suspended. The fee increase would have dramatically increased the cost of most applications, lengthened the time frame for expedited processing, and imposed a first-ever filing fee for political asylum applications. USCIS will be temporarily prohibited from implementing the new rule until further notice. All applications will continue to be filed using the current fee schedule.
