Registration for H-1B lottery to Begin on March 1st and Run Through March 17th

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the initial registration period for this year’s H-1B lottery will run from noon Eastern on March 1, 2023 to noon Eastern on March 17, 2023.

Employers seeking to register employees for the H-1B lottery must do so during this time period using their myUSCIS online accounts. Registrants will be able to create new myUSCIS accounts, if needed, beginning at noon Eastern on February 21st. The registration fee is $10 per beneficiary.

After the registration period closes, USCIS will run the lottery and notify selected applicants by March 31st.

As a reminder, H-1B workers who have already been selected in the lottery and who need to extend their stay or change employers, as well as individuals who will work for a “cap-exempt employer” (which include institutions of higher education and certain related nonprofit entities, nonprofit research organizations and government research organizations) are not subject to the H-1B “cap” and therefore do not have to enter the lottery.

If you have any questions or would like to begin the process of registering employee(s) for this year’s H-1B lottery, please contact us as soon as possible.
