Overview

Michael Schewe is Senior Counsel at Kauff McGuire & Margolis. Michael practices all aspects of immigration law, from business immigration and compliance to consular processing and removal defense. He regularly assists corporations ranging from multi-nationals to U.S.-based businesses with bringing talent to the United States. In this regard, Michael regularly files H-1B, H-2B, TN, O, L, E, and other non-immigrant, employment-based visas as well as green card applications (i.e., EB-1, PERM EB-2/EB-3, EB-2 National Interest Waivers, EB-5) on behalf of the employers and individuals he represents. In addition, he regularly counsels' individuals on issues relating to asylum, cancellation of removal, non-immigrant visas, family-based immigrant visas, and naturalization, among other topics. Given the intricacies and regulatory requirements surrounding immigration compliance, Michael provides employers with I-9 training sessions, coordination of internal self-audits, and representation in the event of government audits. Michael practices immigration law in all 50 states and has clients in various countries around the globe.

Michael graduated from Marist University in 2006 and Seton Hall University School of Law in 2009. He holds an Honorary Degree from Peking University in Beijing, China, and was formerly adjunct faculty for both Rutgers and Montclair State Universities. Mr. Schewe has been published in multiple media, such as the New Jersey Law Journal and the ABA’s Law Practice Magazine, among many others. A sought-after speaker on immigration topics, he has given many well-received presentations to various professional and business associations.

He was selected for inclusion in the 2015-2021 editions of New Jersey Super Lawyers – Rising Stars. He previously served on Law360’s Immigration Editorial Board.
