USCIS Introduces Online Self-Service Tool for Rescheduling Biometrics Appointments

Last month, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) launched an online self-service tool to allow individuals to reschedule their own biometrics appointments. Instead of calling the USCIS Contact Center and waiting for the agency to issue a new appointment notice, applicants can now create a USCIS online account and visit my.uscis.gov to reschedule their own biometrics appointment. In almost all cases, the reschedule request must be submitted before the initial appointment date, although USCIS may consider untimely requests in emergency situations.

Individuals will still need to call the Contact Center to reschedule their appointments in the following circumstances:

  • The request is within 12 hours of the existing appointment time;
    This is the third attempt to reschedule the same appointment;
    The request is for a missed appointment; or
    The tool is unavailable due to technical reasons.

Please note that this service is currently only available for biometrics appointments.
